GI B4 Base Plate

Where the B4 base plate is used

The B4 plate is for structures whose legs are 140×50 mm sections, a larger section than 41×41 strut, used for heavier or taller structures. The upright is welded to the base: the slotted holes in the upright take the leg's bolts, and the holes in the base take the anchors.

It is 2.5 mm GI sheet with a 50 µm zinc coat.

Fixing and alignment

Anchor the plate into the roof slab or a concrete pedestal: wedge anchors in solid concrete, or rawl bolts in concrete and solid masonry. Drill to the anchor's diameter and clear the dust out of each hole before setting the anchor.

Set out all the base plates of a row in a straight line and at the same level before fixing them. Errors at the base run up through the whole structure and show later as panels that don't sit in one plane.
